Prior to attending you appointment please read the below information and please adhere to the advice given. Failure to do so may result in your appointment having to be rescheduled.

- If you are not currently using contraception please abstain from sexual contact or alternatively use condoms in the 3 weeks prior to your appointment.
- Please bring a urine sample.
- If you are having a coil fitted and have no genital symptoms we recommend accessing Chlamydia/Gonorrhea screening via sh24.org prior to your appointment to reduce any risk of infection. (Often there are no symptoms – that is why it is good to have a check-up if you have any unprotected sex).
- If you are having a coil fitted and have genital symptoms we commend accessing Chlamydia/ Gonorrhea screening via the GUM clinic: 02837562080 and deferring to your appointment until you have your test results.
- Genital symptoms of Chlamydia/ Gonorrhea
- Discharge from the vagina;
- Stinging/burning sensation when passing urine;
- Abnormal bleeding or pain during sex.
- If you are having a coil fitted please take pain killers 30 minutes prior to your appointment and ensure you have had something to eat to minimize pain and risk of fainting.
- If you are having a coil removed or replaced please use additional contraception or abstain from sex 1 week prior to prevent risk of pregnancy.
- Please do not attend your appointment if you have symptoms of covid 19 (please check government website for up-to-date information on this)
