Antenatal Information

Breastfeeding it much more than just food. Breastmilk offers numerous benefits beyond just nutrition. It supports a baby’s growth and brain development, provides immune protection, and can reduce the risk of certain illnesses for both the baby and the mother. Breastfeeding also supports developing close and loving parent-infant relationships.

Breastmilk contains all the nutrients your baby needs for the first six months. The World Health Organisation (WHO) and UNICEF recommend breastfeeding alongside other foods to age two and beyond.

Off to a Good Start Breastfeeding Booklet

The Off to a Good Start Breastfeeding Booklet provides you with all the information that you will require to have a successful feeding journey. Your midwife will provide you with it at your antenatal appointment and it is available online in a variety of languages. It is highly recommended that you read the booklet during your pregnancy and bring to hospital with you for when your baby arrives.
