“The most significant opportunities to improve people’s health, wellbeing and life opportunities exist in the form of early intervention and services, particularly (but not exclusively) designed for children and young people. This is because children and young people’s early years are crucial for their physical and psychological development. Families play a very important part in this. Indeed, parental influence is known to be one of the most significant factors in the life chances of children and young people.”
Giving every child the best start and opportunities in life
The Trust is committed to supporting the best start and opportunities in life for children and young people to promote future wellbeing, relationships, educational attainment and capacity to engage in the world of work.
The Public Health Agency (PHA) has invested in the promotion and development of a number of evidence based programmes for parents and young people to support improved outcomes for children and families and prevent poor health and wellbeing.
The Promoting Wellbeing Division provides support and capacity for the development of a range of these programmes across the age spectrum (pre-birth-18 years) in the Southern Trust area.
