Apply for a £250 Mental Health Campaign Microgrant

Do you have an idea to help your community mark World Suicide Prevention Day (10th September) or World Mental Health Day (10th October)? The Promoting Wellbeing: Mental Health Campaigns 2026 Microgrants Fund is offering grants of £250 to support creative activities that promote positive mental health and suicide prevention messages.

Open to both constituted and non-constituted groups (with a constituted sponsor), funding can support events, workshops, equipment, venue hire, facilitators and other innovative campaign activities. Successful groups will also receive campaign resource packs.

Applications are welcome from anyone with an idea to engage the adult population and promote mental wellbeing in a safe, positive and responsible way.

Sometimes it can be the simplest things that can help improve our mental health and build protective factors into our lives. There are five steps we can all take to improve our mental wellbeing.  Try to build these into your daily life – think of them as your ‘five a day’ for wellbeing.

  1. Connect with the people around you
  2. Be active – walk, cycle, run or play
  3. Take notice of the world around you
  4. Keep learning or try something new
  5. Give – do something nice for someone else

Read Yourself Well

Read yourself well is a partnership  initiative with the Southern Health and Social Care Trust, Public Health Agency and Libraries NI. Books are available in libraries across the southern  area  to help people understand and manage their health and wellbeing using self-help reading. Southern Area Protect Life Implementation Group (SPLIG)

SPLIG is a multi-agency group with representatives from both the statutory and community and voluntary sectors. The primary purpose of the group is to ensure implementation of Protect Life 2, The Suicide Prevention Strategy for Northern Ireland (2019 -2024) at a local level. Self-compassion

The Self-Compassion Animation – ‘Getting to Know Your Brain: Understanding Stress and Self-Criticism’ developed by the Health Improvement Team in the Belfast Trust  is based upon the therapeutic modality of Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and is designed as a tool to support how we approach and deal with stress.
