Listen to Nadine Cummings, a Recovery Nurse in Craigavon Area Hospital.

“I just wanted to talk to you about our team and the type of patients we look after. We look after patients of all age groups and anything post operatively from minor to major surgery.

“We also have two high dependency beds, which gives you the opportunity to work with the ICU team next door. So as a team, I would say we are very supportive, its all about teamwork, its about working with each other and asking each other questions and trying to get the best outcome for the patient. We’re a great bunch and should come down and see us!”

And also Pat Lunney, one of our student nurses from Queen’s University Belfast.

“I didn’t have any theatre experience prior to my placement, but the staff down here were so supportive and understanding and very patient with me throughout whether that be explaining different surgeries, different roles, allowing me to gain different opportunities  and experience down here in theatres.

“I have been able to participate in different specialties of surgery so the likes of ENT, urology, gynae, breast, emergency and also trauma as well. Being able to go over to maternity  and witness the likes of emergency caesarians, which is such an intimate and precious time for family members and being able to witness that was such a great opportunity.”
