World Breastfeeding Week

Set every August for the first seven days of the month, World Breastfeeding Week (WBW) aims to highlight the huge benefits that breastfeeding can bring to both the health and welfare of babies, as well as a wider push for maternal health, focusing on good nutrition, poverty reduction and food security. Since 2016, WBW is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

In the Southern Trust, we embrace WBW annually by raising awareness through events based on the annual theme, which changes each year.

This year our teams are hosting a range of events celebrating World Breastfeeding Week.

Our Infant Feeding teams will be at stands in

  • Rushmere Shopping Centre, Craigavon – Monday 5th August (9.30pm – 4.30pm) and
  • Buttercrane Shopping Centre, Newry – Wednesday 7th August (9.30pm – 4.30pm)

Our Health Visitors have also planned a range of events – find out more here.

Breastival 2024 is also happening in-person on Saturday 3rd August, from 10:30am – 3:00pm at the Bandstand, Ormeau Park, Belfast
