Early Pregnancy Problem Clinic (EPPC)

We understand early pregnancy can be a worrying time. The Early Pregnancy Problem Clinic operates across both Craigavon Area Hopspital and Daisy Hill Hospital sites and is for women experiencing problems in pregnancy up to 16 weeks gestation.

Craigavon Area Hospital

In Craigavon Area Hospital we offer a newly extended service with the opening hours of 9am – 7pm Monday to Friday.

We are a specialist nurse-led service under the guidance of an Obs & Gynae Consultant and two Obs & Gynae Specialty Doctors.

We can see you with early pregnancy problems such as vaginal bleeding and abdominal pain.  We can also see you if you have attended the clinic before with a history of ectopic pregnancy, molar pregnancy and recurrent miscarriage.

You will see a nurse or a doctor (or both). You will usually be offered a scan on your tummy if you are over 10 weeks pregnant or internal scan if your pregnancy is earlier than that.

You may be asked for a urine sample or may require a blood test.  Some scans and tests may be inconclusive, so may require further appointments .

Many of the couples we see will be reassured that the pregnancy is going well.  Unfortunately, some couples receive bad news about the pregnancy. At those appointments we will talk to you and advise you how to manage a pregnancy that is not ongoing.

You can self-refer using this phone number 028 3756 0293.  We run on an appointment service with referrals accepted from GPs, Community Midwives, Emergency Department and other Health Care Professionals.

The phone lines are monitored during opening hours and we appreciate patience as they are extremely busy.  There is no answering service.  When calling, your call will be logged by a member of the Admin staff and passed to the nurse for triaging and a call back.  If appropriate, an appointment will be offered.

Please note – we are unable to accept walk-ins.

We recognise that not all patients require a face to face appointment and our Specialist Nurses can offer advice over the phone or signpost you to other services.

You may bring someone with you to appointments.

Daisy Hill Hospital

In Daisy Hill, the Early Pregnancy Problem Clinic is based within the ‘Women’s Health Hub’ and runs Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 9am – 12.30pm.

Monday, Wednesday and Friday clinics are run by doctors, while the Tuesday clinic is  run by a specialist midwife.

You can self-refer using this phone number 028 3756 2754 or 028 3756 2755.

IF YOU ARE EXPERIENCING HEAVY BLEEDING OR SEVERE ABDOMINAL PAIN OUTSIDE OF THESE HOURS, PLEASE CONTACT URGENT CARE OR PHONE FIRST OR ATTEND THE EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT.
