The Southern Trust was delighted to welcome our new NIMDTA Resident Doctors during Changeover on Wednesday, 5 August.
Generic induction sessions were held across both the Craigavon Area Hospital and Daisy Hill Hospital sites, providing Resident Doctors with the essential information and support needed as they begin their placements within the Trust.
The induction programme included a range of vital onboarding activities, ensuring doctors were equipped with everything required for a smooth start. These included the issuing of IT login credentials, photographic swipe identification cards and hospital scrubs.
Resident Doctors also had the opportunity to visit a number of information stands and exhibitions showcasing the support services available to them throughout their training. These included:
- Medical Education Fellows promoting teaching opportunities and educational support available to Resident Doctors.
- U-Matter Wellbeing Team
- Cyber Security Team, promoting the “None of Your Business” campaign
- Encompass Support Team
- Healthcare Library Services registration
- Medical Defence Union (MDU)
- British Medical Association (BMA)
The new cohort received a warm welcome from Mr Simon Gibson, Assistant Director, who addressed attendees in person. This was followed by a virtual welcome from Dr Stephen Austin, Medical Director, who highlighted the importance of Resident Doctors within the Trust and wished them every success in their training and clinical practice.
We are pleased to welcome our new Resident Doctors to the Southern Trust and look forward to supporting them as they develop their skills, contribute to patient care and become valued members of our healthcare teams.
We wish all our new doctors a successful and rewarding placement with us.
