10th anniversary for Allied Health Professions (AHP) Central Booking Unit

25th October 2019

The Southern Trust’s Allied Health Professional (AHP) Central Booking Unit has celebrated its 10th anniversary with a coffee morning.

This unit was established in June 2009, with the purpose of supporting the centralisation of all AHP referrals and appointment bookings across the Trust. The AHPs include; Physiotherapy, Podiatry, Nutrition and Dietetics, Occupational Therapy and Speech and Language Therapy.

Between 2009 and the present time in recognition of the increased levels of AHP activity that the Unit supports, staffing levels within the Unit have increased from seven to twenty-five staff.

Congratulating the team on their 10th birthday milestone, Brian Beattie, Interim Director of Older People and Primary Care for the Southern Health and Social Care Trust said: “With growing demand on our services, the Central Booking Unit team plays an increasingly important role in making sure that our Allied Health Professional staff are supported to manage how individuals are prioritised and seen as soon as possible. The staff in the AHP Central Booking Unit play an essential role in ensuring that best use is made of appointment times.

“We are delighted to celebrate with the team to recognise their commitment to customer service and delivering safe, high quality care every day“.

Denise Russell, Head of Podiatry and the Central Booking Unit said: “We did not want to miss the opportunity to recognise the hard work and valuable contribution our staff has made within AHP services”.

Team Leader, Alison Freeburn added: “We still have a number of our original staff working in the team and feel that it is really important to appreciate how much we have developed over the past 10 years”.
