We are committed to supporting those who want to stop smoking as we offer a free and tailored stop smoking service across the Southern Trust area. You don’t need to quit smoking immediately, but you will start making steps towards it and we will give you as many appointments as you need.
Smoking is the single greatest cause of preventable illness and premature death in Northern Ireland. It contributes to many cancers, heart disease, bronchitis and asthma and other illnesses, including stroke, which causes over 2,000 deaths per year in Northern Ireland, all of them avoidable and many more are affected through passive smoking and vaping.
Smokers are constantly told that quitting cigarettes is one of the best things you will ever do for your health, but many still continue to do so.
Quitting smoking is hard, but with each attempt you learn more about what works for you and get closer to quitting for good.
