Daisy Hill an excellent example of multi-speciality innovation

4th March 2025

Our Daisy Hill Elective Overnight Stay Centre (EOSC) is going from strength to strength, increasing patients numbers and surgical activity across a range of areas.

On a recent visit to the EOSC, Prof Mark Taylor, Co-Chair of the Review of General Surgery, heard from the team about how they are continuing to increase their lists at Daisy Hill and are undertaking surgeries across Breast, Urology, ENT, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, General Surgery, Endoscopy, Dermatology, Paediatric Dental and Oral Surgery.

The EOSC plays a significant role in helping to reduce waiting times for patients requiring elective, intermediate complexity surgery, as part of the Elective Care Centre model, and improving outcomes for our patients.

Prof Taylor said:

“I am delighted to have this opportunity to share the role of the EOSC with SPPG colleagues is playing in the transformation process. The development of the EOSCs has been a really positive step forward for the Health and Social Care Trusts. It is an excellent example of multi-speciality innovation to provide a facility to meet the future demands of the service whilst also attempt to reduce unacceptable waiting lists. Both myself and my colleagues want to support this area of service transformation and continue to work with such a dedicated staff going forward.”
