The Southern Trust has achieved silver status in the 2023 Arena Network Environmental Survey.
Organised through Business in the Community, the Northern Ireland Environmental Benchmarking Survey is an annual measurement of how organisations are improving their environmental impact.
Over 120 organisations from a range of sectors including: general manufacturing; local authorities, education; utilities, construction; ICT; and food and drink, participated in the survey this year.
Sponsored by Moy Park and supported by Department for Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs, the Survey scores, recognises, and rewards organisations that are going above and beyond their legal environmental requirements.
Congratulating the sustainability team and colleagues across the Southern Trust, Director of Finance and Estates, Catherine Teggart said:
“As such large organisation with thousands of staff and huge estate, we are keen to promote a healthcare system that prioritises our people and the environment.
“I would like to pay tribute to the estates team and staff right across our organisation who, despite rising demand for services and ongoing financial and workforce challenges, continue to work tirelessly in their drive to develop a more sustainable organisation. This includes reducing our carbon footprint, increasing recycling and biodiversity, reducing waste and developing green spaces where we can.
“This recognition demonstrates and assures patients, clients, visitors and staff, of the Trust’s commitment to improving our environment. We look forward to building on this success through the continued development and improvement of our sustainability strategy, further increasing efficiency and saving resources to keep reducing our overall environmental impact and promote a greener future for our local community.”
