The Southern Health and Social Care Trust is proud to have again achieved the Investing in Volunteers Award from the UK Volunteering Forum.
Investing in Volunteers is the UK quality standard for all organisations involving volunteers.
This quality standard reflects the commitment across the Trust to fostering a great volunteering experience.
Volunteer roles include Activity Support, Here to Help, Meet and Greet in our Emergency Departments, Spiritual Support, Volunteer Driver, Breast Feeding Peer Support, Pets as Therapy, Meal Time Support, Befriender, Mentor and supporting people in our Macmillan Information and Support Hubs in Craigavon Area and Daisy Hill Hospitals.
Margaret Devlin-Hania, Head of Community Development and User Involvement added:
“We are always keen to welcome new volunteers, of all ages, to be part of this fantastic programme. If you have an hour to spare, contact our Volunteer Coordinators on 028 3756 3946.”
Chair of the Trust Board, Eileen Mullan said:
“We take volunteering seriously and create opportunities for people who want to give their time. We would be at a loss without them. It’s great for the staff to have volunteers working alongside them.
“Volunteering keeps people active and well. It gives them a sense of purpose to go home feeling rewarded in the role they have played in helping others.”
The achievement will be celebrated at the Annual Volunteer Celebration Event this month.
