Teams and individuals from the Southern Health and Social Care Trust have been recognised for the important and innovative work they do as Allied Health Professionals (AHPs).
Out of hundreds of overall entries they have been shortlisted in the top 3 within their respective categories for the NI Advancing Healthcare Awards for leading innovative healthcare practice.
The Children’s Core Occupational Therapy team and RISE NI Occupational Therapy team have been shortlisted for the ‘Award for Creative and Innovative Practice’ through their ‘Sensory Motor Circuits in Primary Schools’ while the Trust’s Dysphagia Coordinator Louise Campbell has also been shortlisted in the top 3 for the same award along with regional colleagues for their ‘Regional Dysphagia training’.
Our Podiatry Assistant Practitioners (PAPs), who provide support, advice and foot health education for patients living with diabetes have also been shortlisted as part of a regional team for the ‘Award for Excellence in a Support Role’.
Niamh Canavan (Physiotherapist), Catherine Murchan (Occupational Therapist) and Yvonne Hanna (Team Manager, Acute Care at Home team) have also been recognised for their expansion of the AC@H service in the ‘Award for Service Improvement’ category. Our Radiography imaging team are also part of the Northern Ireland quality standard for imaging team shortlisted for the ‘Award for outstanding leadership’, whilst Daniel Deehan, a former Occupational Therapy student has been recognised as one of this years ‘Rising Stars’ due to his co-production of a research study and published paper on hand therapy with his placement supervisor Daniel Harte.
The winners of the awards will be announced at a ceremony organised by Chamberlain Dunn on Thursday 10 October 2024 at the Stormont Hotel, Belfast.
