The Southern Trust is committed to the promotion of good relations amongst people of different religious belief, race or political opinion.
The six HSC Trusts have the pleasure today in formally launching our new regional good relations statement on 10th December 2020 – International Human Rights Day.
During Good Relations week in September 2020, the six Trusts engaged online with colleagues from the Community Relations Council, the Equality Commission and a range of stakeholders including HSC staff and Trade Unions, service users and carers, to-produce a clear and meaningful statement for the HSC sector to outline our commitment to promote good relations amongst everyone – our patients, service users, carers, visitors and staff. This is in line and supports our HSC values.
We recognise that to give effect to this statement, it is important that it is supported by key meaningful actions to be taken forward collectively at both regional and local levels to ensure consistency of approach.
They are as follows:
- To develop a co-produced action plan to support Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) staff working in HSC
- Launch and roll out the Regional HSC Conflict, Bullying and Harassment Policy
- Promote and communicate our Good Relations commitment – via this poster and the HSC Good Relations Newsletter
- Scope the possibility of introducing ethnic monitoring of HSC service users
We look forward to working with all our stakeholders to continue in our work to promote good relations and ensure that everyone is treated fairly with respect and dignity across all of our services and in all of our facilities
