‘Carols in the Courtyard’

7th January 2025

The Southern Trust’s Community Addictions Service held their ‘Carols in the Courtyard’ event at St Luke’s Hospital, Armagh for staff and service users recently.

‘Carols in the Courtyard’ was established following the transformation of the courtyard by members of the The ARC Day Opportunities Service and The Conservation Volunteers in conjunction with Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council in 2022.

There was a Christmas scavenger hunt and the team welcomed the ARC Music Group, along with service users and staff from The ARC, who have been instrumental in maintaining the courtyard garden.

“’Carols in the Courtyard’ was another opportunity to showcase our beautiful outdoor space here in St Luke’s with a feel-good activity that everyone could enjoy,” said John McEntee, Assistant Director of Mental Health Services.

“Whatever your age and stage in life, you can enjoy the benefits of singing and music – it helps lift your mood, there’s an increased social connection singing within a group and is a great stress reliever. It was a wonderful event to get everyone in the mood for Christmas.”

The event also included a craft sale with items provided by The ARC.
