Cervical Screening Review update 21 November 2024

21st November 2024

In October 2023, the Southern Health Trust launched a precautionary cervical screening review for 17,425 women. The review was carried out in partnership with the Public Health Agency (PHA) to check that the original result provided was correct.

The Cervical Cytology Review is now essentially complete – a very small* number of women are awaiting final completion.

Next Steps

Work is continuing on a comprehensive outcomes report to detail findings from the review and a companion report on cervical cancers in The Southern Trust Area. These two reports are being produced by the Public Health Agency (PHA) and The Southern Trust. It is expected that both reports will be completed and published within the next few weeks.
