Extra car parking spaces for Daisy Hill Hospital

30th September 2019

An extra 26 car parking spaces are now available at Daisy Hill.  The expansion of the Pay and Display Car Park – C, is part of a project to improve access and visibility around the main hospital entrance.

The development also includes three additional spaces for disabled drivers and the introduction of a one-way system around the car park. Other work around the entrance area includes clearing the existing mound and shrubbery, improved road markings, tactile pavements and zebra crossings.

Car Park C is directly opposite the main site entrance. It opened in January to help patients attending the new Outpatients Department at Bernish House.

Welcoming the development, Helen O’Neill, Director of Director of Finance, Procurement and Estates for the Southern Health and Social Care Trust said: “We appreciate the difficulties staff, patients and visitors can face when coming to our busy hospital sites and are always working to improve access and traffic flow within the limited space and resources available to us.

“Hopefully the expansion of Car Park C will go some way to alleviate parking pressures, ease congestion and make the area safer for pedestrians.

“As always, we continue to appeal to drivers to please park responsibly when coming to the hospital and where possible consider other options like car share, drop off or public transport.”

Staff are encouraged to use the additional free spaces in Car Park A to help free up Car Park C for patients.

Parking enforcement applies to cars parked in Car Park C without a valid ticket.
