Important Car Parking Information for Daisy Hill Hospital

23rd January 2020

From Monday 27 January, car parking enforcement at Daisy Hill will be extended to a small area around the waste compound at the back of the hospital.

Parking enforcement was introduced at Daisy Hill and Craigavon Area hospitals to deter people from parking in drop off zones, disabled spaces and blocking emergency routes. This will now be extended along the road to the waste collection area to improve access for large vehicles.

Additional red road markings have been added to the area and Parking Charge Notices will be issued to drivers parked inappropriately.

Commenting on this latest development, Anita Carroll, Assistant Director of Acute Services for the Southern Trust explains: “Since the introduction of parking enforcement we have seen a great improvement in traffic flow and access around our busy hospital sites. However we are still experiencing some issues for example, double parking causing inconvenience to other drivers and parked cars preventing two-way traffic flow on narrow roads and in this case, difficulty for essential maintenance vehicles safely navigating the site.

“We hope that these additional red markings will prevent people from parking inappropriately, help further improve congestion and provide a safer, more accessible environment for everyone using the site.

The parking Charge Notice fee is set at £60 or £40 if paid within 14 days. Clamping or towing may also be applied. Appeals can be submitted to the contractor for consideration.
