Our Vision and Strategy launch

17th June 2025

The Southern Health and Social Care Trust has officially launched a new long-term strategy to make health and social care better, safer and more focused on people.

‘Vision and Strategy 2030’ is based on the vision ‘Together we will grow to be a learning organisation focused on providing safe, quality care based on a community-first approach throughout the whole-life journey’.

The strategy is built around five key priority areas for growth: working better together, learning and improving as an organisation, keeping a strong focus on safety and quality, providing more care in local communities and supporting people throughout their whole lives.

These priorities will guide how the Trust prioritises its resources, adapts to challenges, supports its workforce and transforms services for the future.

To mark the official launch of the strategy, five symbolic tree-planting events took place across the Trust, with each event representing one of the strategic themes.

Staff, service users, community partners and special guests, joined together to celebrate this new chapter.

Elaine Wilson, Director of Planning and Performance, said:

“Over the next five years the Trust will focus on building stronger partnerships, fostering a culture of learning and innovation and driving improvements in safety, quality and patient experience. Services will be increasingly delivered closer to home supporting people to live well in their communities, while adopting a whole life approach to care that supports individuals at every stage of life.

“To support this refreshed identity, we have updated our logo and branding to create a consistent and professional identity across the entire Trust.”

The strategy was developed with input from staff, patients, carers and community partners and will be delivered in the same essence.

Interim Chief Executive Steve Spoerry, said:

“This strategy is our promise to listen, innovate and work together to meet the evolving needs of our population. It puts people at the heart of everything we do – patients, carers, staff and partners.”

Eileen Mullan, Chair of the Trust, said:

“Our people shaped this strategy – their voice is embedded in every priority – and they will be at the heart of delivering it. Together we are building a stronger, more responsive health and social care system.

Implementation of the Strategy has already begun with progress tracked through annual plans.
