We were delighted to welcome the Permanent Secretary from the Department of Health, Peter May to Daisy Hill Hospital on Monday.
Mr May visited the Emergency Department, Ambulatory Unit, Urgent Care Centre and met with staff to discuss progress on the stability plans for acute inpatient medicine since his last visit and other ongoing challenges facing health and social care.
He saw the MRI scanner and called in to the Maternity Ward and Women’s Health Hub before going to theatres and the elective overnight stay centre.
Permanent Secretary Peter May said: “I was very pleased to visit Daisy Hill Hospital and have the opportunity to meet with a number of the teams. I want to put on record my appreciation for everything you do and also for your honest engagement with me.
“I am acutely aware of the challenges that the hospital has faced but want to commend all the staff for their clear dedication and commitment. The hospital continues to provide a wide range of vital services to the population and is an integral part of our network.”
