Storm Éowyn – Update on services

24th January 2025

The Met Office’s red alert has now expired, but an amber warning still remains in force.

Strong winds and widespread disruption is expected to continue this evening across the Trust.

We acknowledge the huge efforts of staff right across all of our hospital, community and estates teams who have been making a tremendous effort to provide critical services and keep everyone safe.

Some delays may be expected over the coming days as we try to recover from the impact.

Staff as always will continue to prioritise the sickest patients and we ask to please only come to our Emergency Departments with serious symptoms that cannot wait.

Community teams will do their very best to reach service users, however there may be delays in some areas, so we ask for families and neighbours to please check in on vulnerable loved ones if you can.

The safety of staff and service users remains our utmost priority

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

23.01.25

The safety of all staff and service users across hospital and community services is a Trust priority.

The Met Office’s red weather warning in place for tomorrow Friday, January 24 will mean major disruption to our services.

All outpatient appointments are cancelled and all elective surgery, including red flag and urgent, is cancelled.

Our community staff will continue to prioritise our most vulnerable service users but we ask for the support of family and carers where possible.

Given the advisory not to travel, only come to our Emergency Departments if you have serious symptoms that need hospital care. Our Phone First service will not be operating tomorrow, phone 999 if the patient is acutely unwell.

The safety of our patients and service users remains our utmost concern and we appeal for public support in ensuring that we are able to care for those who need us most.

Thank you for your continued help and understanding and please keep safe.

The Minor Injuries Unit in South Tyrone Hospital is closed until further notice. We will update when the service has reopened.
