Student Nurse Engagement Event

9th May 2023

The Southern Health and Social Care Trust is hosting a student engagement evening to provide final year nursing students with an insight into working as part of the Nursing and Midwifery team within the Trust.

Nursing students will have the chance to speak to several members of our senior nursing team and there will be representatives present from each directorate who will be available to answer questions about post availability, career opportunities and pathways.

They will also be able to learn more about our preceptorship programme and ask any burning questions they may have about working as a new registrant within the Trust area.

It will be a great opportunity for them to meet future colleagues including past students who now work as part of the Nursing and Midwifery team, offering them a real insight into working in the Trust.

The engagement evening will be beneficial to those students who have decided on a specific career pathway, as well as those who are undecided on a preferred specialism.

The event will take place on Monday 15th May in Trust HQ on the Craigavon Area Hospital site and final year nursing students (all fields) are invited to drop in at any time between 4.30pm and 6.30pm.

Heather Trouton, Director of Nursing, Midwifery and AHPs, said:

“We value the importance of the role of a student nurse and welcome you to join us in your first registered nursing post.

“We want the best nursing workforce for the future as we truly are a great place to work.

“If you enjoy working in an environment that enables you to provide a high standard of care and support to our patients and their families, then we know we are the Trust for you.

“We truly value our staff and we pride ourselves in ensuring you have opportunities to continue your professional development in whichever way you want to take your next steps.”
